SAFETY SIGNAGES

Safety signage is essential for communicating critical health and safety information. These signals—which can include colors, hand signals, signboards, verbal communication, or acoustic signals—are designed to prevent injuries by creating awareness of workplace hazards and potential dangers.

Categories of Safety Signage

  • Mandatory Signs: These instruct personnel on actions that must be taken to ensure safe working conditions. They typically feature black text or a white pictograph inside a blue circle on a white background.

  • Prohibition Signs: These indicate prohibited behaviors or restricted access, such as “NO SMOKING” or “NO ENTRY”. They are identified by black pictographs or text within a red circle on a white background.

  • Warning Signs: Used to identify objects, actions, or hazards that are harmful but may not be life-threatening. These signs feature a black ideograph inside a black triangle on a bright yellow background with black text.

  • Danger Signs: These alert individuals to life-threatening conditions, such as high-voltage areas, high-powered machinery, or volatile chemicals. They feature the word “DANGER” in white capital letters inside a red oval on a rectangular black background.

  • Restriction Signs: Commonly used to indicate specific parameters like speed limits, height limits, or vehicle weight. They feature black numbers inside a red circle with a white background.
